Artist Statement:
Tales always have been the way to capture and forward history to the next generations. But with each step, the stories grow, change and adapt. Great things become fantastical, dark becomes black, but light shines more than ever.
Listening and learning tales for my entire life, I've been always wanting to capture them. But not pure faithful reproductions, but delving deeper into them, finding the essence, and then take a few steps back again to let my own inspiration loose on them to create a surreal idea, grounded very much in reality.

Tōrō Nagashi (2017)
On the last night of Obon Matsuri, the Japanese remember the ones they lost by placing lanterns on the water. This light guides those who came before to the spirit life.
Is this someone who is guiding the light, or is she being guided by it?
For this piece we surrounded our talent with over 130 floating, light and mist.

The Lady Of The Lake (2012)
The Lady of the Lake. Maybe she's waiting for her lost husband to come home, or a water creature luring sailors, or who knows what her story is. All we know is in the early morning, before the sun has risen, a white figure with a burning torch appears in the mist.
