The Hotel

BTS

Wow, what a few months it has been!

I've traveled three countries, with many interesting locations. Cosmopolitans like Amsterdam, to villages not bigger than a street crossing. One of the more challenging assignments was a shoot in the Scandic Hotel in Antwerp. We had two full days to capture all the hotel rooms, conference rooms, bar and restaurant for marketing and booking purposes.

On the test bank: the new Nikon D4 (courtesy of Nikon Professional Services Belgium), with the rest my usual kit: D800, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 105 Macro and 5 SB-700 Speedlights. We lit the entirety of each room with the speedlights, as well as blended that light with the ambient light.

Shooting the volume of rooms can be quite challenging, but we had a lot of help from the marketing department as well as housekeeping that prepared and restored rooms before and after our shoot. We commandeered a few carts from housekeeping to transport everything between sets.

Within a week we delivered all images, ready for a new tourist season.
