December 5, 1957. London is once again being held hostage by a thick pea soup fog. The ever reliable Bus 11 drags itself through the horrible weather when Eddie Adams gets on. Publicly he is known as a brilliant researcher at the University of London, but unbeknownst to the rest of the world he is a Soviet spy. On the bus his boss is waiting for him: Jerry Gerard, who expects a piece of critical information. A meeting is about to take place.

This is the premise of The Affair On Bus 11, the short film I created. This was a two-year deep dive into the world of espionage, smog, public transportation and saw many research hours and trips. Including research at the London Transport Museum Library and information from the Met Office and the Military Intelligence Museum.

I wrote this movie as a stage play, set completely in an authentic London Routemaster bus. We dressed this bus with custom period-accurate advertising, as well as recreated two newspapers of the day the film takes place including custom photography and sourcing the original photos.

Technology wise we pushed the envelope and created a full 8K Anamorphic pipeline and a Dolby ATMOS audio mix.

For music we turned to composer Koben Sprengers who created a full orchestral piece inspired by the old spy movies of the 1950’s. The soundtrack is not only a hit on streaming services, but is also being released on vinyl.

The best part of creating this film was bringing together a dedicated team that believed in the project, which was just a blast to create.
